For your info, it's good to be aware that most of the cPanel Web Hosting offerings on today's web hosting marketplace are furnished by a very insubstantial business segment (when it comes to annual capital flow) known as hosting reseller. Reseller website hosting is a type of a small-sized business segment, which generates a big amount of different web hosting brand names, yet furnishing one and the same thing: mainly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everyone. Why? Because at least ninety eight percent of the website hosting offers on the entire web hosting market provide the same solution: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel-based Web Hosting price tags are similar. Very identical. Leaving for those who require a top web hosting service virtually no other website hosting platform/web hosting Control Panel choice. So, there is only one fact: out of more than two hundred thousand website hosting brand names around the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2%! Less than 2 percent, mind that one...

200k "Web Hosting companies", all cPanel-based, yet distinctly labeled

The Web Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offerings" Google reveals to us come down to just one and the same solution: cPanel. Under 100's of 1000's of different web hosting brand names. Suppose you are just an average bloke who's not very well aware of (as most of us) with the web page making processes and the web hosting platforms, which actually power the individual domain names and web portals. Are you prepared to make your hosting selection? Is there any web hosting variant you can settle on? Sure there is, now there are more than 200,000 website hosting corporations in existence. Officially. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than 98% of these 200k+ unique web hosting brand names around the world will give you absolutely the same cPanel website hosting CP and platform, dubbed differently, with the very same price tags! WOW! That's how big the assortment on today's website hosting market is... Period.

The Web Hosting LOTTO we are all participating in

Simple arithmetic reveals that to chance upon a non-cPanel based web hosting company is an immense stroke of luck. There is a less than one in fifty chance that something like that will occur! Less than 1 in fifty...

The pluses and minuses of the cPanel-based Web Hosting solution

Let's not be pitiless with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was trendy and perhaps met all website hosting business prerequisites. To put it briefly, cPanel can achieve the desired result if you have only a single domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Problem Number 1: An imbecilic domain name folder arrangement

If you have 2 or more domain names, though, be extremely cautious not to delete completely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will dub each new hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are very easy to remove on the hosting server, because they all are situated into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder situated inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to erase the files of the add-on domain names, please. Discover for yourself how terrific cPanel's domain folder arrangement is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is located)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you growing confused? We surely are!

Negative Sign No.2: The same email folder setup

The e-mail folder arrangement on the web hosting server is literally the same as that of the domains... Making the same error twice?!? The admin guys strongly reinforce their belief in God when handling the mail folders on the electronic mail server, praying not to botch things up too irretrievably.

Negative Aspect No.3: A total lack of domain name administration sections

Do we have to cite the total shortage of a modern domain management GUI - a location where you can: register/migrate/renew/park or manage domain names, change domain names' Whois details, shield the Whois details, change/set up nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not incorporate such a "contemporary" tool at all. That's a big inconvenience. An unforgivable one, we would like to add...

Disadvantage Number Four: Multiple user login places (minimum 2, max three)

How about the need for an extra login to avail of the invoicing transaction, domain and technical support management system? That's apart from the cPanel account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Web Hosting corporation. Now and then, depending on the invoicing platform (particularly created for cPanel exclusively) the cPanel Web Hosting supplier is using, the avid customers can end up with two extra login places (1: the invoicing/domain management tool; 2: the ticket support section), ending up with a total of three user login places (including cPanel).

Weakness Number Five: More than one hundred and twenty hosting CP areas to get familiar with... briskly

cPanel presents to your attention 120+ areas inside the web hosting Control Panel. It's a marvelous idea to memorize each and every one of them. And you'd better memorize them swiftly... That's extremely arrogant on cPanel's side.

With all due veneration, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Web Hosting companies:

As far as we know, it's not the year 2001, is it? Remark that one as well...
